Crashes When Using QuickTime Alternative

Postby RaceRender LLC » Fri Jul 27, 2012 1:59 am

This topic applies to only the Windows version of RaceRender

It has been reported that the use of the "QuickTime Alternative" package, version 1.81 in particular, can cause RaceRender to crash on startup, and possibly other times as well. The crash may appear as an access violation or exception from reading or writing protected memory, indicating possible memory corruption.

QuickTime Alternative is a 3rd party modification on Apple's QuickTime for Windows which aims to install codecs and interfaces for QT-enabled apps like RaceRender to use, without installing the usual other QuickTime and Apple components. Because this is an unauthorized modification to Apple's technology, this can't be endorsed or supported, so users will have to be on their own with this.

For improved stability and performance, the official Apple QuickTime Player package is recommended, as explained here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=22
