In-phone rendering to a file

Postby Ricknau » Fri Feb 27, 2015 10:18 am

The Getting Started page says that from Sessions screen one can "tap the Video button at the bottom to view the overlay options and watch the video, or the Share button to render it into your photo album."

Is the in-phone rendering to a file (I presume with data overlay) using the Share button only an iPhone feature? I don't see that as an option on my Android. Share button brings up only "Send Raw Data", "Send Raw video", and "WiFi Transfer".

At the present time, in-app rendering of video+data output is an iOS-only feature. The intention is to offer it for Android too, but there are some additional technical complications with doing it on that platform, so it isn't ready just yet... In the meantime, Android users can still use WiFi transfer or other methods to bring their TrackAddict data & video into RaceRender, which can produce the video+data output with a lot more customization and capability.

To get the data and video from TrackAddict, you have 3 options: (all of these assume you have selected the desired session within TrackAddict)

1) Press the "Share" button in the app and use WiFi transfer to RaceRender

2) If the session is not already stored on the External or SD Card space, use the "Storage" button to move it to External. Once it's on the External space (or SD), plug the phone in via its USB cable and it should appear as a file system drive in Windows Explorer. Navigate to the Android -> data -> com.hptuners.trackaddict -> files folder to find the data files for your session (.csv for data, and .mp4 for video). For Mac users, the Android File Transfer program can give you access to this space.

3) Press the "Share" button in the app and use "Send Raw Data" and "Send Raw Video" to send the files to yourself using Google Drive or by e-mail
