Track Segment Enhancement Request

I ride a motorcycle and use the segment mode when recording. On long trips it would be helpful to be able to set a start location as well as a stop location so I can record specific segments without stopping to start the record function. Is this possible?

Hi,

Only setting a Segment automatic end location is possible at this time, but the possibility of defining a start location as well is a feature enhancement that is being looked into for the future... The same type of functionality has been requested by autocrossers, who don't always start timing immediately upon movement. It would take some extra development time and testing to get that working as well as it can for autocross use, but the good news is that if it's practical to do there, then it should work even better in easier cases like yours.

Update!

The upcoming release of TrackAddict HD version 2.5 will include the ability to define a Start location for Segment mode, as well as a Finish location.
- If the start Latitude and Longitude is blank, it will use "Auto Start" mode, which works the same as previous version and starts timing once the vehicle accelerates from a stop.
- If the start location is set, Segment timing wont start until you cross the start line while exceeding 5 MPH, or you can tap an on-screen button to manually start it too.

Please Note: If the vehicle accelerates from a stop very near the set start line, there may be a delay before segment timing is triggered (due to GPS limitations). If you find that to be an issue, you should either set the start line further away, or consider using the Auto Start mode, which will automatically start timing once movement is detected. It can be selected by clearing the start point's Latitude and Longitude coordinates.

The goal is for this update to be available in the App Store by Nov 25th, 2013, depending how much time is needed for Apple's review and approval. It's a big update that improves plenty of other things too, and I'm happy to report that it is now essentially in final testing...
